Two days to take-off!
The bike and most of my requirements for over 4 months are now packed - and amazingly not excessively heavy! Just had a lot of very good friends up to wish me well on my adventure which was a very good way to spend a Thursday afternoon. Only two whole days left to go before take-off on Sunday August 1st and the chance to finally meet up with not only the organisers of the trip but many of the participants who will be starting off with me at Quito. The waiting is nearly over and "The Andes Trail" will soon begin, a few days of acclimatisation and then the reality will kick in as we hit the road in a southerly direction!

Good Luck on your adventure. Capture it all and come home safely and tell me about it all. I will miss you xx
ReplyDeleteHi Rob, You were the hot topic of conversation at the coffee shop this morning after our 70 kms Beach road ride, inspired us all to go a bit further! Good luck and enjoy this truly epic adventure. Dale
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your ride, Rob! Better put your bike in the overhead bin so that there is no way the airline can lose it! We're very much looking forward to following your advenures on the blog! I rode a few months ago with a 72 year old from Virginia who had just gotten back from Peru riding 16,000 ft.+ passes on his mountain bike, so it can definitely be done! Of course, he won US national masters sprints in his 60's and still has legs like tree trunks! Sort of like yours will look when you're done with this epic!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Ron & Annika
Hi I will be watching your blog daily to see where you are. quite a change for me who only usually switches her computer on once a month. Good luck and Godspeed

So pleased that you got there safely and that the bike is ok. You now have to find where all the bits are that I packed for you! Good to know that there are some other people already there. Don't forget to drink lots of WATER.
ReplyDeleteWent to town and everyone is asking if you have arrived. They don't seem to ask me how I am!!
